The full day course aims to help home brewers and coffee lovers to have a more well rounded view of... Read more

Shoebox Gifts

Since last summer, when the situation in Calais intensified, Bristol has united to support the refugees living in the makeshift camp, The Jungle. From fundraisers to marches, people have joined forces to raise money and collect essentials to send, or take, to the French border. A couple of weeks ago, The Coexist Community Kitchen held... Cucumbers & Coffee Chaff

A couple of weeks ago, our green-fingered roaster Sean drove the two of us out to the Alderman Moore allotment. It was a grey, still afternoon. The plots were empty and quiet, except for a black cat who picked his way silently over the vegetable patches. We parked up next to the shuttered allotment shop.... Read more

New Coffee – Rwandan Mbilima

The lot is produced by the Musasa Dukunde Washing Station, one of the highest mills in Rwanda at a staggering 2020 metres above sea level. Here, coffee cherries are centrally processed from neighbouring small holders. Most of whom have seen their income from coffee at least double since the proliferation of this style of processing.... Dancing at Dawn

Last Thursday, Extract teamed up with New Dawn Traders to transform the roastery in to a tropical den. Multi-coloured African fabrics hung low from the warehouse walls and paper palm trees were assembled to help create a temporary illusion that we were really partying in the tropics. Outside, bikes lined the icy road and a... Read more

Extract Cinema Club

Last Wednesday we hosted our first Extract Cinema Club. We lined the walls of our bunker with fairy lights, dragged the comfy sofas in and covered the floor with a huge pile of cushions and blankets. Buttery popcorn was served in coffee bags and White Russians were sipped as the Dude drank his and lay... Read more

Big O Donuts’ New HQ

Tucked down the back of the Clay Hill trading estate, the Big O Donut Company have taken on a new location to work their icing sugared magic. Last Thursday, a group of us gathered in the lobby of their new premises. The room was decorated like a festive 1970′s living room; fairy lights hung from... Read more

Campus and Coffee

On Saturday the guys from Campus Skateparks took over the roastery. There was a great vibe; skateboards clattered against the ramp in rallying support of jumps and tricks, people sipped coffee whilst browsing through the campus kit and kids pushed on their tiptoes to get a better look. Both with backgrounds in youth work, Andre... Read more

This espresso is delicately roasted to highlight the tropical... Read more

Coffee, Donuts & Beer Tasting Event

This concept began life as a spark in the hungry mind of head roaster, David. Having come across the newly established The Big O Donut Co, the idea of a coffee, beer, meat & donut collaboration was only a synapse away. From the purely selfish concept of creating a day that revolves around things we... Read more
