About the coffee

This filter coffee is carefully roasted to produce a balanced and sweet cup. It’s accessible for both brewed by hand methods and larger scale machine brewing, like the filter coffee machine you might find in your work kitchen. So whether it’s for a single cup of french press filter coffee, or a batch of filter for the whole office, El Peñol provides reliable and delicious flavours of juicy red apple, caramalised nuts, and oaty granola.

About the coffee grower

This coffee is produced by a group of smallholders situated outside the town of El Peñol in eastern Antioquia. Over 80% of this region is mountainous, and is well renowned for exceptional coffee that can be harvested all year round due to the warm climate and reliable rainfall. The farmers here have only just begun producing coffee for the speciality market, and as processing continues to improve in the region, so does the final quality in the cup.

Meet the roaster

El Penol is roasted on Bertha, a 120kg vintage Probat roaster rescued from scrap from Bosnia and rebuilt by the Extract Coffee Roasters team in a restoration project which took more than four years to complete!
