Sustainability at Extract

For us, working sustainably is simply doing our bit to make coffee better for our world. We focus on three key areas; sourcing, roasting and community.

Sustainable Sourcing

We believe in building long-term, sustainable relationships with our farmers based on a quality-pays ethos. This means paying premiums higher than fair trade in return for exceptional quality coffee.

Since 2007 we've been sharing knowledge and building relationships with farmers we are proud to call our friends. You can meet a few of them here.

Sustainable Roasting

It's not just about sourcing ethically, we believe in doing our bit to operate ethically here in the UK too. This means recycling coffee waste into bio-fuels, a move to 100% recyclable paper cups and salvaging old roasters from scrap restoring them to a higher efficiency than when new.

Sustainable Community

Grounds Up is a collective of charity partners and community projects which are supported by Extract Coffee Roasters. These are grass-roots projects in the communities we work in.

It's an initiative we launched in 2018. It was born from a desire to work more closely with charities who helped people in our communities.
