The personal challenges of lockdown and isolation are something we’re all dealing with. But imagine navigating this situation whilst homeless?
Our charity partner, The Passage is London’s oldest homeless charity. During lockdown they have had to close the doors of their resource centre.
After finding emergency accommodation for all of their clients, Head Chef Claudette and an army of volunteers have transformed the resource centre into a Food Hub, preparing and delivering 300+ hot, nutritious meals, 7 days a week to homeless people in emergency accommodation throughout lockdown.
Lockdown has also meant that we have had to pause our usual barista-training with Hotel School students (a joint venture between The Passage & The Goring Hotel).
Determined to continue helping in some way, Regional Manager, Harrison, Machine Technician, Hana and Account Manager, Martin have joined Claudette’s army as regular volunteers in The Passage Kitchen.
To keep this service going throughout lockdown, The Passage needs to raise £300,000.
Extract-ers have been fundraising from home too, joining The Passage’s #donateyourdinnercampaign to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries during lockdown.
The concept is simple, donate the cost of your dinner & share your photos on social media, tagging friends to join the challenge.
You can watch Claudette’s video here to find out more.
A massive shout out to Claudette, her army of volunteers and all of our friends, students and graduates at The Passage and Hotel School.
We cannot wait to be making and sharing coffees with you again soon.
