Extract Coffee Roasters donates coffee to the NHS during Covid-19
The smallest of gestures really do make a difference. At Extract Coffee Roasters, we believe in the idea of community. The idea that we are all better together. Society is pulling together in ways that many of us had never seen or experienced before Covid-19 hit: a glancing smile from a stranger as you pass them on your morning run, your neighbour checking that you have enough supplies, or simply thanking your local postman.
Free coffee for the NHS
In the context of a global pandemic, arranging regular free coffee deliveries for frontline workers seemed like the very least we could do. At times, it didn’t seem like enough. But during 2020, we donated more than 35,000 cups of coffee to eight different hospitals, including Bristol Southmead, Royal United Hospital Bath and Milton Keynes University Hospital. We kitted out A&E, ICU and ED staff rooms across the South West, installing filter brewers which allow staff to grab a coffee whilst on shift.
Our aim was to keep frontline staff caffeinated. Reading a tweet from a nurse saying thank you for the delicious coffee she was able to enjoy on shift felt pretty amazing too.
It was just a cup of coffee. But we’re really glad it helped.
