Rwandan coffees are renowned for being bright, balanced and clean, and this espresso is exactly that. The farm responsible for this espresso puts quality above everything, favouring selective hand-picking over using machinery, so only the perfectly ripe cherries are picked for processing. To ensure the highest standards are met, the farmers conduct regular sensory cupping sessions throughout the harvest to check quality. They have also boosted soil nutrients by implementing organic composting with coffee pulp.
Having inherited the farm from their parents, the current owners grew up on the farm, helping out during harvest. The family grow their coffee alongside tall banana trees, which slows down their growth and reduces stress on the crops. Another perk to shade growing is it provides a home to plenty of local biodiversity.
