Inner Strength coffee

COMMUNITY COFFEE

Inner Strength is a caffeinated fist bump to all the community projects we volunteer with throughout the year. For every bag of Inner Strength sold, we donate £1 to our Grounds Up charity collective supporting community projects across the UK.

Now, when you sip a cup of Inner Strength, you are supporting communities in need across the UK through our Grounds Up Charity Collective.

Ex-rough sleepers in London, hospitality professionals in the North, vulnerable groups in the Cotswolds and young people from deprived communities across the South West and Wales.

Whether that’s a mate you speak to everyday, a colleague, a neighbour or just someone important you haven’t connected with in while.

We’re asking you to reach out and share a cup of Inner Strength together.

COFFEE OF HOPE

The Democratic Republic of Congo is a challenging place to live and work. Armed groups target young people then destabilise the region through horrific violence against the communities who live there.

Kawa Amaha means coffee of hope in the local Kinande language. The hope, strength and determination of the 176 women in the Kawa Amaha Women's Coffee Coopade makes them an epic choice for this year’s Inner Strength.

The cooperative provides training in leadership and coffee processing and these all-female growers have big plans ahead. The group are setting up a coffee nursery for new plants and preparing to trial their first lot of natural coffee.

The Story behind Inner Strength

  1. Democratic Republic of Congo

After a truly epic coee last year, we’re returning to Virunga National Park for this year’s Inner Strength with a delicious washed and sun-dried coffee from the Kawa Amaha Women's Coffee Coopade.

In 2020 our Grounds Up charity collective helped even more community projects across the UK, raising more than £3000 for our five partners, Beyond Food, Hotel School, Empire Fighting Chance, So Let’s Talk and The Long Table.

Blending the Costa Rican Hermosa with a fruity Ethiopian coffee let our roasters flex their muscles and show how unusual flavours can be balanced to a delicious coffee of epic proportions.

FARMS: HERMOSA, COSTA RICA & SASABA, ETHIOPIA
PROCESS: HONEY PROCESS & NATURAL PROCESS
IN THE CUP: BLUEBERRY MUFFIN & MARSHMALLOW

  5. El Salvador

In 2017 we found our strong-but-sweet Strong Man Espresso on a trip to El Salvador. That year saw some impressive mo’s grown by the team, a cut-throat visit to the roastery from the local barber and £1000 raised for Movember UK.
