Nestled in Kenya’s central highlands coffee belt, just north of Nairobi, lies the vibrant coffee region of Kiambu. This area boasts a long, proud history of smallholder production, where tightly packed farming communities work side by side to produce exceptional coffee.

This particular coffee comes from the Githiga Factory, located in the Githunguri area of Kiambu. Operating through a local farmers' cooperative society, the Githiga Factory acts as an important hub for a huge network of passionate small-scale producers. Instead of needing their own expensive infrastructure, these farmers deliver their handpicked cherries to the factory for processing. This cooperative structure not only ensures consistent, high-quality handling but also allows the farmers to have direct, organised access to the global speciality market.

To bring out that unmistakable Kenyan brightness, this coffee underwent a classic washed method. After delivery, the cherries are pulped to remove their outer skins, fermented to break down the mucilage, washed with clean water, and then laid out to dry slowly on raised African beds under the sun.
Scoring a fantastic 87 on the cupping table, this high-quality lot beautifully showcases why Kiambu is a world-renowned origin.
Brew up a cup and enjoy a spectacularly juicy and sweet filter coffee bursting with notes of redcurrant and orange peel.
