Production Roaster


COULD YOU BE OUR NEW PRODUCTION ROASTER?

Coffee roasting is part craft, part science and always about care. As a Production Roaster at Extract Coffee Roasters, you’ll be at the heart of our roastery, transforming green coffee into something special.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll operate commercial roasting equipment, track roast data, cup and taste for quality and keep the roastery running smoothly. From calibrating roast curves to supporting packaging and inventory, your work connects farm to cup every single day.

What you’ll do

  • Roasting operations. Run commercial roasting equipment, follow roast profiles, and track detailed batch data.
  • Quality & sensory evaluation. Cup, taste and assess roast outcomes, giving constructive feedback to maintain consistency.
  • Production support. Prepare green coffee for roasting, help with packaging, labelling, grinding and dispatch when needed.
  • Inventory. Contribute to stock management, recording usage and supporting monthly reconciliations.
  • Equipment & facilities. Carry out cleaning, preventative maintenance and support a safe, well-organised roastery.
  • Health & safety. Follow all H&S and food safety standards, using correct handling techniques and PPE.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork. Share knowledge with colleagues, adapt when the plan changes and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • What we're looking for

    Essential

  • Experience in coffee roasting, food production, or manufacturing.
  • Physically fit, comfortable lifting 10–25kg and working on your feet.
  • Confident using roast software (e.g. Artisan, Cropster) and interpreting data.
  • A methodical, process-driven approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Team player with good communication skills and integrity.
  • Passion for coffee, quality and doing things the right way.
  • Desirable

  • Experience with commercial roasting machines 
  • Sensory training or certifications (SCA, Roaster Guild, Q Grader).
  • Knowledge of green coffee origins and processing methods.
  • Food safety or health & safety training (e.g. HACCP, IOSH).

  • Monday–Friday, full time
  • 40 hours per week
  • Salary £26,000 - £28,000 depending on experience
  • Based at Extract Coffee Roasters, in central Bristol
