Join our Technical Services team

Love fixing things? Love great coffee? Join our Technical Services team as a Trainee.

We’re looking for a Trainee Field Service Technician to help us keep the UK’s best coffee flowing.

At Extract Coffee Roasters, we build, maintain and repair high-performance coffee equipment for some of the country’s most respected cafés, restaurants and hospitality venues.

You don’t need experience working with coffee machines — just a practical mindset, a love of learning and real enthusiasm for coffee. If you have any mechanical or electrical training or hands-on experience, that’s a big plus. You’ll receive full training, mentorship and support from our expert technicians, and work alongside a brilliant team based at our Bristol HQ.

In this hands-on role, you’ll learn how to install espresso machines, diagnose faults, carry out servicing, and support baristas with on-site training — all while delivering outstanding customer care. You’ll gain confidence working independently in the field, backed by a skilled workshop and support network.

At Extract, we work at the cutting edge of coffee technology and as your skills grow, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in exciting machine customisation projects and help launch new equipment from top manufacturers.

While most work happens during the day, some repairs and installations may fall outside standard hours. We’ll need a bit of flexibility from time to time — including participation in a shared on-call rota once you're fully trained.

You’ll need great people skills, the ability to think on your feet and a willingness to learn, always with empathy, curiosity and care.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Install, service and repair espresso machines, grinders and brewers at customer sites
  • Diagnose faults and carry out accurate, efficient repairs
  • Perform preventative maintenance and calibration
  • Provide basic barista training and machine care advice
  • Support call-outs and emergency repairs as part of an on-call rota
  • Keep clear service records and update job progress through our CRM
  • Act as an ambassador for Extract’s quality and values
  • What you’ll bring

  • A practical mindset with hands-on experience or interest in mechanics, electrics, or similar trades (training or qualifications are a bonus)
  • Great communication and people skills
  • A logical approach to problem-solving
  • A full, clean UK driving licence, must be over 25 for insurance purposes
  • Confidence managing your time and staying organised
  • A passion for coffee and commitment to great customer experiences
  • A human approach, you value kindness, integrity and collaboration as much as technical skill
  • Why join us?

  • 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday
  • Overtime and on call weekend rota
  • Purpose-driven business
  • Company vehicle, tools and full training provided
  • 23 days’ holiday + 8 bank holidays (additional days for long service)
  • Company pension scheme
  • Employee Assistance Program and Well Being App
  • Team events
  • Excellent coffee, every day and free coffee for home.
  • Hours & Location

  • Monday–Friday, full time
  • 40 hours per week
  • Salary £28,000 - £32,000 depending on experience and qualifications
  • Based at Extract Coffee Roasters, London.

  • Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
