The Aguablanca wet mill in the Valle de Laboyos, located in Huila’s coffee-producing region, works with 600 smallholder farmers. Situated in the heart of the Colombian Andes, this exceptional mill is redefining speciality coffee production.
Located in southern Colombia and bordered by the Andes mountains, coffee grows at high altitude, up to 1,900 metres above sea level. It's this dizzying height that creates the trademark Huila acidity, while the greenhouse-like conditions provide for frequent flowering periods throughout the year, explaining the distinct floral aromas of the cup.
This specific filter coffee has come from 30-50 smallholder producers through Huila, and processed at the newest Aguablanca wet mill. Opened in 2024, this mill is state-of-the-art, and the most advanced facility in Colombia.
Thanks to the opening, there has been a direct impact on 600 producing families in the area. As producers begin to work with the Aguablanca mill, they observe a direct improvement in the supply chain connection, granting them increased access to international markets and higher incomes, which in turn directly affects their living conditions, creating a brighter future for the communities.
