Fincas Planadas is owned and operated by Pablo Rivera. With a clear focus on speciality, Pablo has focused his production on Gesha and Pink Bourbon varieties.
Pablo is a member of the Martir group in La Plata, Huila. Made up of 20 families, the passion and dedication of these producers is second to none. All of these smallholders are either already farming organically or transitioning to organic practices.
Tell me more about Gesha coffee
Originating from the Gesha region of Ethiopia, Gesha is an incredibly rare coffee variety that has become legendary in the speciality coffee market.
Made famous by Panama, it’s a varietal that regularly wins awards for cup score and barista competitions due to its swettness, fruit-forward notes and overall complexity. The beans are also known to be very stable and dense, which allows it to give delicate floral notes.
Mikael Jasin, the recent World Barista Champion actually took the win using a Gesha from Panama as part of his espresso course. Using a Gesha, the judges were able to enjoy notes of jasmine, orange blossom, orange and honey.
