Kenya stands out in East Africa as a truly unique coffee origin. Around 700,000 people grow coffee here, most of them smallholders with plots no bigger than your garden! Together, they form a vibrant community of producers who care deeply about sustainability and quality for every cup.

This coffee can be found at 1,500 metres above sea level, with bright red soil that is full to the brim with nutrients. The cooler nights and gentle rainfall mean slower cherry maturation and more complex flavours. Surrounding the trees, you’ll find Macadamia and Grevillea have been planted to provide the coffee trees with plenty of shade, while also adding biodiversity to the farms.
The Mutira Farmers’ Cooperative Society brings together 1,500 smallholder farmers, who carefully handpick their ripe cherries and deliver them to the Kagumo Mill. Here, a meticulous washing process begins. Cherries are pulped, soaked, fermented overnight, washed clean again and then laid out on raised beds under the Kenyan sun to dry.
Sustainability sits at the heart of this mill. Even the water used in the washing isn’t wasted; it’s returned to the soil.
Enjoy this classic, clean, vibrant Kenyan filter coffee that reflects a dedicated community that is dedicated to its craft.
