Tucked down the back of the Clay Hill trading estate, the Big O Donut Company have taken on a new location to work their icing sugared magic.
Last Thursday, a group of us gathered in the lobby of their new premises. The room was decorated like a festive 1970′s living room; fairy lights hung from the walls and elegant pot plants stood on mid century modern side boards. We served Extract coffee cocktails in glass tumblers and the dulcet tones of Ella Fitzgerald lulled us into eating the delicious selection of donuts.
The Big O Co donuts are well known in Bristol for their creative fillings and we were treated to a special variety on Thursday. From donuts dripping with warm chocolate sauce and topped with crunchy honeycomb, to a combination of brie, fig and parma ham, they challenged the traditional palate and did not disappoint in flavour. We were even treated to a taster of the new Christmas Menu with a mince pie donut!
We always enjoy working with local companies, especially those committed to sourcing all their products locally too. The Big O Co are supplied with cream from Somerset and enjoy hand-picking their other ingredients at local markets.
With their new kitchen up and running, don’t miss the Big Os at the Harbourside Christmas market on the 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th of December. Be sure to try out their new Christmas Menu and celebrate the festive season in style with a donut and a cup of coffee.
