It’s been three months. Three months since I made the leap from Extract super-fan to Managing Director, and what a three months it’s been.
I’m not sure I could have chosen a more challenging, uncertain or emotional time to take the reins, but I tell you what - I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Although I’m new to Extract, in many respects I’m really not that new. I’ve been a super-fan and customer for ten years and am a huge advocate of all that we stand for.
Never before in Extract's history have our sense of purpose and values been more important than they are now. Over the next few blog posts, I plan to share a little insight into how our values continue to drive us to make coffee better for people and planet.
Our customers, you, are everything. You stood by us and supported us from the get-go, and we are grateful for you standing by us now. In return, over the last couple of weeks, the roastery team have worked harder than ever to keep roasting, keep packing and keep sending your coffee.
Knowing that we bring a small slice of happiness to your day makes us proud, leaves us feeling pumped and energised for the next day. I took this photo at the end one of those days last week. Happy people, all of us.
Over the coming weeks and months, one thing that’s for certain is that we will be here roasting your coffee, playing a role in your community when you need us most.
On a personal level, three months in, I’ll leave you to imagine how fiercely proud I am today as MD. I also think it’s fair to say that I’m more of a super-fan now than I ever was.
