About Organic Espresso
A rich, medium-dark coffee with flavours of dark chocolate, fruit loaf and toffee apple that soften in milk to create a smooth and balanced staple for our wonderful and conscious customers.
This Organic certified espresso is sourced from Honduras, from a cooperative that cares deeply about people and planet. COMSA stands out not only for its exceptional coffee and operation but for its values too.
Meet the Cooperative
Founded in 2001 by a small group of farmers who are all determined to grow coffee the right way, COMSA now has over 1,500 members who are all producing Organic coffee. It is quickly becoming one of the largest and most influential coffee cooperatives in Honduras. They are professional to the core, yet deeply rooted in community, their work challenges what a coffee organisation can and should be.
They have so much to shout about, they invest in their community with free organic farming training, innovative soil health programmes and have a deep commitment to biodiversity. They care deeply about being coffee farmers who care for people and planet.
A New Generation of Changemakers
In a region where educational opportunities are often limited by resources rather than potential, COMSA is proactively shaping the future with a COMSA International School, a bold and innovative education project built from the ground up.
The school began with just 65 students in 2015, but with a big vision. Today, it educates nearly 200 pupils across all age groups. Now with plans underway to expand the secondary school’s library and add a cafeteria, the school is investing not only in infrastructure but in a better future for its students.
Students participate in balance and climbing exercises three times a day and rotate through fast-paced micro-lessons on maths, English, history and nature. All are delivered in short dynamic bursts, drawing inspiration from the Glenn Doman method that was originally developed to enhance brain development in young children.
“Rooted in their culture, fluent in many worlds, ready to innovate and lead with respect and vision”
COSMA International School is a living example of what can happen when a cooperative invests deeply in its community, not as a side project, but as a core part of its mission to cultivate positive change.
Organic Certified
Our Organic espresso doesn't just taste good, it does good for the land it's grown on. Becoming Organic certified isn't easy and shouldn't be overlooked.
In short, Organic certified coffee is grown without adding things like synthetic fertilisers into the land it's grown on. However, there's far more to it than just that. In order for us to call this coffee 'Organic', the full supply chain (including us) is scrutinised to ensure high standards are kept to at every point in the coffees journey. From farmers to importers and us, our Organic espresso follows very strict standards, regulated by The Soil Association.
There's plenty of benefits to being Organic certified, reduced environmental impact, healthier soil and improved biodiversity in the surrounding area. Not only does our Organic espresso taste incredible, but it also does good.
Here's a quote from our Head Roaster, Jonny:
I love organic coffee because it prioritises long-term soil health, reduced chemical use, and environmental stewardship. I've found that producers who care deeply about how their practices impact nature and the environment around them put a lot of care into the coffee itself often leading to high quality cups.
