ABOUT THE PRODUCTION ROASTER JOB ROLE
Extract Coffee Roasters is looking for a new Production Roaster to join the roastery team in Bristol UK. If you’re passionate about all things coffee, looking to take the next step in your coffee career and like the sound of being part of one of the best teams in the coffee industry, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re looking for someone with coffee-warehouse and roasting experience and a passion for coffee and coffee culture in the UK. We need a hard worker who can get stuck in and support their team when needed and will have some decent contributions to the roastery playlist.
Daily duties include roasting our range of hero espressos, meeting pre-defined roast profiles. You’ll also be roasting a regularly changing selection of single-origin espressos and filter coffees. This position will be working in rotating shift patterns including some early mornings and later finishes.
You’ll be roasting on vintage probat drum roasters which have been rebuilt and restored by the Extract team and the coffee you roast will be served in some of the UKs most iconic cafes, hotels and restaurants and in homes and offices nationwide.
As well as roasting, we'll expect you to maintain Extract’s high quality standards across production roasts through sensory evaluation, quality checks and data logging. So, meticulous attention to detail is a must.
Other parts of the role include defining tasting notes, maintaining equipment, helping with cleaning duties, and supporting production and helping out on the packing line.
Health and Safety is a top priority on the roastery floor, you’ll be expected to work in a safe, responsible way with care for your team. Part of your role will be contributing to the development of Risk Assessments and SOP’s for the site and all equipment. That means being a clear communicator, a proactive thinker and able to work in an organised and methodical way.
Extract is an open-plan roastery, so the roastery floor is always on display and it’s common to see customers in the roastery for meetings and training. With this in mind, you should be tidy and ready to welcome customers into the roastery at all times.
