Hidden within the Andes’ you’ll find a tropical climate and high altitude, ideal conditions to grow high-quality arabica coffee. Combining these conditions with meticulous processing and selective picking has helped Bolivia gain recognition globally for its coffee production.
35 years ago, Pedro Rodriguez decided to leave the world of finance and pursue his passion for coffee. Pedro went on to become a pioneer in the speciality coffee industry within Bolivia, setting up his own export company with his children, Agricafe.
They now own 12 farms as well as running a programme designed to enhance coffee practices, improve lifestyles and inspire others to return to coffee farming.
Sol De La Mañana (‘The Morning Sun”) is part of this programme set up by Agricafe, designed to work like a small school. It takes farmers 7 years to graduate and you are taught everything from nursery care, planting and harvesting, to pest prevention and financial management.
This particular filter coffee comes from individuals in their 6th year of the programme, the quality of what they have produced is exceptional. Expect zesty notes of Sicilian lemon alongside a boozy rum-like profile.
